The Lachea sauce pairs perfectly with our pasta, particularly fusilloni, whose shape captures the various ingredients.

You know that

It’s the island of Lachea who inspired our sauce.
The island of Lachea is part of the Cyclops archipelago, just off the coast of Aci Trezza, a small fishermen village in the eastern side of Sicily, a few chilometres north of Catania.

In the Odyssey, Lachea Island is identified as the first landing place of Odysseus in the land of the Cyclops. According to Homer, the king of Ithaca explored the islet from top to bottom without encountering anyone except a myriad of free-roaming goats. In reality, Lachea Island has a clear volcanic origin, formed as a result of an underwater eruption in Sicily some 500,000 years ago.

Our Lachea sauce is a tribute the Mediterranean and some of its iconic land and sea ingredients: tomato pulp, tuna, anchovies, extra virgin olive oil, parsley, garlic, whole sea salt.

We have chosen to give character to this delicious sauce by pairing tuna with anchovy. The anchovy, also called anchovies, is a bony fish found throughout the Mediterranean. It lives in shoals and at varying depths and has a high reproductive capacity, thus being able to survive the fierce fishing in the Mediterranean.

Anchovies have a thin, tapered body and belong to the category of blue fish, with which they share shape, size and body colour. Like all oily fish, anchovies are rich in useful nutrients, food salts and have an extremely moderate energy content. In cooking, anchovy meat, whether fresh or preserved, is particularly tasty.

 

Perfect as a condiment for all our types of pasta, you can also use it to prepare canapés or to stuff home-made meat rolls.

Store in a cool, dry place at a temperature of around 10°.
