Welcome to Exquisito!

Why Exquisito?

It took us about five months from the concept to the first delivered Exquisito box last late November.
A race against time, with the whole team, including our very much creative designer, fully devoted to make this project come real in such a very short period.

Exquisito idea has been in the air for quite some time. An extraordinary food journey along the Med to fill our pantry with a selection of top quality products from small local producers.
Selecting exquisite products, the hardest and most delicious part of the job, has been done over the years. So, it was just a matter of sharpening up the concept, the brand and work on each single product in our selection.
We have enjoyed all of this very much. Scouting, tasting, pairing, drinking, you know, that sort of tough job.

In the meanwhile, the name Exquisito was born.
It comes from the the Latin Exquirĕre, to search for.
It means something singularly delicate and fine, a very pleasant and tasty food or drink. A refined, exquisitely typical and characteristic object. When we enjoy something particularly, the adjective that comes to mind is “Exquisite!

First stop: Sicily

It’s now time to make you enjoy our exquisite selection. So, which is our first stop in this travel along the Mediterranean?
It’s Sicily. A magic island in the centre of the Mediterranean, Sicily is a basket full of any healthy, juicy, tasty, delicious ingredient you may imagine. Thanks to the excellent quality of its diversified soil, the diversity of the climate all around the island, Sicily is able to self-sustain with a large selection of crops and products from local breeding and fishing.
Its exhuberant land gives Mediterranean herbs and spices, ancient local Sicilian grains and the famous durum wheat, all sorts of vegetables, mushrooms and even truffles.
From the local livestock we get juicy meat and a wide selection of historic DOP (PDO) cheese as well IGP (PGI) salami and cold cuts. The very fishy Mediterranean sea that surrounds the island floods local markest and tables of blue fish, red tuna, swordfish and shellfish.
Sicily is a perfect example of biodiversity, zero-miles philosophy, sustainability and organic production. Ingredients of an indisputable quality, they are perfect storytellers of their territories and people.

Savoury and sweet recipes are a crossroad of civilisations: the Phoenicians, the Greeks, the Romans, the Arabs, the French, the Spanish, all dominations have left their legacy in Sicily and in the history and the culinary culture of the island.
Sicily is meant to be our flagship for another very simple reason: we are Sicilians.
In Sicily we produce our organic extra virgin olive oil, our pasta and our selection of antipasti, patés, pestos and sauces.
In Sicily we are at home, that’s why we know the island inside out.

On a journey along the Med

Sicily will be not the only destination as Exquisito is a journey along the Mediterranean. We promise you will travel with us along the Med and fill your pantry with our selection of authentic, local and artisanal tidbits to relish.
And top quality wines from small boutique wineries to pair!

You will learn who produce them, where and how because we love food and wines, we love to travel and talk about products, territories, people, stories.

We hope you will like our Exquisito selections as much as we do. Everything you will find in our boxes we also use at home, with our family and friends.

Enjoy Exquisito!
